  • The Packers Last Super Bowl Run

    With the acquisition of Micah Parsons, many people are picking the Green Bay Packers as contenders to win the Super Bowl in the 2025 season. Let’s look back at the last run the Packers went on to win the Super Bowl back in 2010.

    Before the Playoffs

    Before the season started, there were already a lot of expectations placed on the Packers, as they had gone 11-5 the year before.

    Going into the playoffs, however, the Packers only had a 10-6 record, only able to make the wild card round. Their season had some rough moments.

    However, even after the rough start, the Packers were able to get it together, going 7-3 in their last ten games and knocking off the Bears and the Giants in their last two games of the regular season.

    The Playoffs

    They entered the playoffs, having to play on the road for each of their games. However, there were still some people picking the Packers to win.

    The Packers marched into Philadelphia, with all the pressure in the world on their shoulders, and the came up big.

    After the win against the Eagles, momentum started to shift for the Packers. Analysts who had been critical earlier in the year started to favor and pick the Packers to win games.

    Next up for the Packers was the Atlanta Falcons, hosting the divisional playoff game after ending the season with a 13-3 record, including a first round bye having the best record in the NFC. While many analysts started to pick the Packers to win by a little, no one expected what ended up happening.

    After the monumental win against the Falcons, there was only one game left between the Packers and a Super Bowl appearance. The only team standing in the way was the Chicago Bears, the divisional rivals of the Packers. The Bears had finished the season at 11-5 and won the divison, giving the Packers a tough game. The Packers were ahead 21-14 with less than a minute to go in the game, and the Bears had the ball.

    After the tight win, the Packers headed to the Super Bowl for a chance to win it all. Their opponents? The Pittsburg Steelers. Leading up to the game, the predictions were mixed.

    In the end, it was an intense and close game, but the Packers ultimately sealed the dead with a 31-25 victory over the Pittsburg Steelers. Aaron Rodgers won Super Bowl MVP with 304 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

    Final Takeaways

    For the Packers to repeat the same type of success they achieved in this Super Bowl winning season, a few things will need to happen. First, the Packers got hot at the right time, winning their last two games to clinch the playoffs and have momentum going on the road in the playoffs. Second, the Packers had a top five defense in the league in the 2010 season, which means Micah Parsons and the defense will have to step up for the Packers to have the same success. And finally, it comes down to Jordan Love. In the 2010 season, Aaron Rodgers led the charge, having 400 yard passing games, keeping his composure, and he stepped up whenever it was asked of him. For the Packers to win the Super Bowl in the 2025 season, it all depends on Jordan Love.

  • Green Bay Packers 2025 Season Prediction

    The Packers are coming off a good, but not great season. While ending up in third place in their own division, they managed to make the playoffs, but did lose in the first round to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. This year, the Packers look to have a deeper playoff run and are going all in, evident in the recent blockbuster trade to acquire Micah Parsons, arguably one of the best defensive players in the NFL and was 5th in the league in sacks last season even after missing four games. The Packers have a tough schedule ahead of them, but with the addition of Micah Parsons and the development of Jodan Love at quarterback, the team looks to be in good shape. Here is my season prediction for the Green Bay Packers

    Week One- Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Packers win 24-17

    Reasons:

    • The Lions lost both their offensive and defensive coordinators, leaving a big hole on both sides of the ball.
    •  Dan Campbell has been undefeated at Lambeau since 2021, but with the loss of Carlton Davis, Kevin Zeitler, Ifeatu Melifonwu, and Kindle Vildor to free agency, all starters and vital contributors to the Lions success, it will be hard for the Lions to duplicate their success from last season.
    • Since Dan Campbell became the head coach of the Lions in 2021, he is 0-4 in season opener games, while Matt LaFleur is 3-2 in season opener games.
    •  With the loss of offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler, it is the perfect opportunity and start for Parson’s first game as a Green Bay Packer.

    Week Two- Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Packers win 30-27

    Reasons:

    • Dan Quinn is 0-6 against his former coordinators and assistants, including Packers head coach Matt Lafleur.
    • Many rookie quarterbacks go through a sophomore slump, including CJ Stroud last season who had 4,108 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and only five interceptions as a rookie, but only had 3,727 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in his second year. Jayden Daniels could have a similar slump.
    • Matt LaFleur has a 10-3 record in September, while Dan Quinn is 17-29 in the month.

    Week Three- Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns

    Score Prediction: Packers win 30-10

    Reasons:

    • Cleveland has a four-quarterback carousel with no one knowing who will start, which shows disfunction in the locker room.
    • The Browns went 3-14 last season and have been one of the worst teams in the NFL the last two seasons.
    • Last season, the Browns led the NFL in dropped passes with 35.
    • The Browns defense ranked 14th in defending the run, while the Packers had the fifth best rushing offense in 2024.

    Week Four- Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys

    Score Prediction: Packers win 35-28

    Reasons:

    • Matt LaFleur is undefeated at 3-0, including the postseason, against the Cowboys, and the Cowboys have not beaten the Packers since October 16, 2016.
    • The Cowboys traded Micah Parsons to the Packers, giving Micah extra motivation for the game.
    • In his last game against the Cowboys, Jordan Love had a 157.2 passer rating with 272 passing yards and 3 touchdowns in the wild card round of the playoffs and beat the Cowboys 48-32.
    • The Cowboys had the fifth worst rushing offense in the NFL last season, while the Packers had a top ten rushing defense.

    Week Six- Cincinnati Bengals at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Bengals win 33-30

    Reasons:

    • The Bengals had the best passing offense in the NFL in 2024, while the Packers only had the 13th best passing defense.
    • The Packers have key injuries in the secondary, including safety Xavier McKinney who may not be available for the game, as well as losing star cornerback Jaire Alexander in free agency, making the secondary vulnerable to a team like the Bengals.
    • Cincinnati has an all-time record of 5-3 against the Packers at Lambeau Field, and has not lost to the Packers at Lambeau since 2009.

    Week Seven- Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals

    Score Prediction: Packers win 27-15

    Reasons:

    • The Cardinals ranked 22nd in team defense in 2024, one of the worst in the NFL, and already have injuries to Justin Jones, J.J. Russell, Bilal Nichols, BJ Ojulari, Walter Nolan III, and Dalvin Tomlinson, all of which are defensive players, which will make it easier for Jordan Love and the offense to score.
    • In 2024, the Cardinals and Packers played in October as well and the Packers won 34-13, with Jordan Love passing for 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. With a depleted defense, it will only be easier.
    • The Cardinals are a run heavy offense, ranking 7th in rush yards per game in 2024, but with the Packers addition of Micah Parsons, the run aspect of the offense will not work as well against the Packers.

     Week Eight- Green Bay Packers at Pittsburg Steelers

    Score Prediction: Steelers win 20-17

    Reasons:

    • The Steelers have gone 3-1 in their last four matchups against the Packers, and coach Mike Tomlin is 6-1 against the Packers in the regular season.
    • Matt LaFleur is 10-8 in his coaching career against top ten defenses, showing that he sometimes struggles against one of the better defensive teams in the league, and the Steelers finished with the 12th best overall defense and 5th best rushing defense in 2024, and the 6th best overall defense in 2023. In 2023, the Steelers beat the Packers 23-19.
    • Aaron Rodgers was a quarterback that won the Super Bowl with the Packers in 2010, and is now the starting quarterback of the Steelers. It will be his first game against the Packers, where he will be motivated to play even better than normal.

    Week Nine- Carolina Panthers at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Packers win 35-28

    Reasons:

    • Matt LaFleur is 12-5 in his career following a loss. If the Packers lose to the Steelers, there is a good chance LaFleur bounces back with a win.
    • The Carolina Panthers are 2-6 against the Packers in Lambeau and have not won at Lambeau since 2008.
    • Since becoming the starter, Jordan Love has gone 6-2 in the month of November, showing that it is one of his best months as a player.

    Week Ten- Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Eagles win 28-20

    Reasons:

    • The Packers played the Eagles twice last season, losing both games. The Packers have not beaten the Eagles since 2020 and have only beaten Jalen Hurts once.
    • Jordan Love has consistently struggled against the Eagles, having only a 72.5 passer rating over the three games against the Eagles with three touchdowns to four interceptions.
    • Matt LaFleur’s record is 6-6 against top five defenses in the NFL, showing that he struggles coaching against a premiere defense, and the Eagles ranked 1st in the NFL in overall defense in 2024.

    Week Eleven- Green Bay Packers at New York Giants

    Score Prediction: Packers win 32-10

    Reasons:

    • The Giants ranked 24th in the NFL in total defense and ranked 30th in the NFL in total offense in 2024, showing that they are near the bottom of the league on both sides of the ball.
    • The Giants allowed 2,316 total rushing yards to opponents in 2024, which was the sixth most in the NFL, while the Packers ran for 2,496 yards against opponents in 2024, which was the fifth most in the NFL and shows a clear mismatch.
    • The Giants lost both Darius Slayton and Azeez Ojulari, two productive starters that will have a big impact on an already struggling offense and defense.

    Week Twelve- Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Packers win 21-18

    Reasons:

    • Before the 2024 season, the Packers and Vikings split their wins each year for four years in a row, showing that the Packers and Vikings will both win and lose one of their matchups.
    • The Vikings have several key players listed as injured at the moment, including Justin Jefferson, Harrison Smith, and Christian Darrisaw, three key contributors on both sides of the ball.
    • The Vikings will be starting rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy, and Matt LaFleur is 11-1 against rookie quarterbacks in his career.

    Week Thirteen- Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

    Score Prediction: Lions win 28-20

    Reasons:

    • After 13 weeks with the new coordinators and some of the injured players back and healthy again, the Lions should be in tiptop shape.
    • The Lions had the 2nd best offense in the NFL in 2024, and were 2nd in passing yards per game, making it a mismatch against the Packers depleted secondary.
    • Penei Sewell, one of the Lions offensive linemen and arguably the best offensive lineman in the league will be against Micah Parsons, which will make it much more difficult for the Packers to bring pressure on defense.

    Week Fourteen- Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Packers win 35-10

    Reasons:

    • Matt LaFleur is 11-1 against the Chicago Bears in his coaching career, with his first loss coming just this past season. Since the year 2000, the Packers have gone 37-13 to the Bears, showing a recent history of beating the Bears.
    • In the four games against the Bears, Jordan Love has thrown for 891 yards, 6 touchdowns, and only 1 interception, showing he has some of his best games against the Bears.
    • In the month of December, Matt LaFleur has a record of 20-2, including an 18-game winning streak in the month of December, which is one of the highest winning percentages for any head coach in the NFL in any month.

    Week Fifteen- Green Bay Packers at Denver Broncos

    Score Prediction: Packers win 24-17

    Reasons:

    • Matt LaFleur wins in December.
    • In 2024, the Broncos had the 7th highest ranked defense in the league, but they lost Cody Barton and Tremon Smith in free agency, two high contributors to the team, and Marvin Mims and Nate Adkins are both injured to start the year, two offensive targets for a team that only finished 22nd in the NFL in passing yards per game.
    • In his career, Matt LaFleur is great at coaching against second year quarterbacks, having a record of 7-3. With Bo Nix going into his second year, LaFleur will most likely have a great game plan in place.

    Week Sixteen- Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

    Score Prediction: Packers win 24-21

    Reasons:

    • As I mentioned before, LaFleur has only lost one game in his coaching career to the Bears and is 20-2 coaching in December.
    • As with Bo Nix, Caleb Williams will be entering his second season, and LaFleur has a 7-3 record against sophomore NFL quarterbacks.
    • Since 2020, the Bears have gone 7-12 in the month of December, showing that they routinely struggle in the month.

    Week Seventeen- Baltimore Ravens at Green Bay Packers

    Score Prediction: Ravens win 35-14

    Reasons:

    • In his career, Lamar Jackson is 24-4 against teams in the NFC, and has not lost to an NFC team since October of 2022, showing a long stretch of dominance against teams in the conference.
    • Matt LaFleur has constantly struggled in his career to beat playoff teams and teams with a winning record, having a record of 23-24 against teams with a winning record over his time with the Packers.
    • While Lamar Jackson has shown dominance over NFC teams in his career, Jordan Love has only gone 5-5 in his career against AFC teams.

    Week Eighteen- Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

    Score Prediction: Vikings win 24-17

    Reasons:

    • From 2019-2023, the Vikings and Packers split the series 1-1 every year, which leads me to believe the Vikings will win this one.
    • After all the injury concerns at the front half of the season, all of the people on the injury report should be fully healed and playing at this point, leaving the Vikings offense and defense much more dangerous.
    • In 2024, the Vikings had an 8-1 record at home, showing that they have a great homefield advantage, especially in the winter.
